Professional cleaning and polishing
Professional cleaning of jewellery is recommended at least once a year. For professional care, we recommend taking your jewellery to a reputable jeweller.
Tips and Recommendations/Daily Care
Between professional maintenance, most gold jewellery can be cleaned with non-abrasive products. Inspect your jewellery regularly to make sure that ring settings, necklace clasps and bracelets are secure. Normal daily use and external agents such as atmosphere, cosmetics, moisture and perspiration that come into contact with jewellery can contribute to reducing the brilliance of both gold surfaces and gems and diamonds. Avoid exposing gold jewellery to contact with household bleach as it can quickly cause discolouration and possible disintegration. It is advisable to store gold jewellery in a safe place before carrying out these activities:
- Domestic and outdoor work.
- Showering, bathing or swimming in pools, hot tubs, hot springs and at the sea.
- Using lotions, hair products, perfumes and other cosmetics.
- Exercising in the gym or during sports activities.
- Preparing meals.
The lustre of jewels, especially gold ones only (without gemstones or diamonds) can be maintained in a simple way using specific, non-abrasive products specially meant for cleaning jewellery. Most products available on the market for jewellery cleaning may be used safely, as long as they are properly applied, though it is advisable to take extra care with products containing ammonia, alcohol, acids or chemical substances that may prove to be too aggressive.
